MB PhotoArt was started in the latter part of 2004 by Marita Bitans. Marita attended the Cleveland Institute of Art and graduated with a BFA from Ohio State University. She has been a medical illustrator for many years, illustrating anatomy and surgery textbooks, and doing drawings for medical malpractice trials. She has also done graduate work in portrait painting, but has enjoyed all aspects of photography since college. Her other artworks consists of colored pencil drawings, pastels, guache and pen and ink.

Marita specializes in nature photography, enhanced and manipulated via brushes, filters, etc., in Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw and various other programs. Composition and design elements are more important to her than the actual subject matter. Her fascination with textures, unusual lighting and perspectives are also evident. Her object is to reduce the photo to a more fundamental form and try to blur the boundaries between actual subject matter and the abstract, thereby creating a unique look.

Marita belongs to the Medina County Art League and has exhibited at their various shows. Some other places she has exhibited are the Valley Art Center (Chagrin Falls, OH), "Art in the Park" (Kent, OH), "Harvest of the Arts" (Wellington, OH), The Art Mart (Brecksville & Broadview), Canton Art Museum's ChristKindl Mart,and Wooster's Arts and Jazz Fest in which she won "Best in Show."
